Volume vs Efficiency

Article
I was reading this article and thought it was really good the idea it explains is so relevant to a lot of things I am trying to do in my life

The Question is if you were a beginner at a sport let’s say tennis , would you start by training hard like Rafa Nadal or would just play with your friends everyday at the local courts . The answer depends on your commitment and existing expertise in the sport . For someone just starting out , volume is better you just need to play as much as possible and then when you cannot practice any more you start cutting your practice hours to make them more efficient . Lot of the times people think answer is making your practice more effective but all that doesn’t matter if you cannot show up regularly on the tennis court and if the practice is hard you wouldn’t want to do it regularly . I think this holds true where many times we seek the perfect gym workout or the perfect study routine we think that we can somehow figure out what the best way to study is and then its done we’ll be the expert in our fields but it rarely works that way - you do tons of volume first and then you start figuring out where can I be more efficient and slowly making those improvements you arrive closer to the best workout like an asymptote never there but getting closer with time

I think I have been observing this pattern in my own social life , I read a lot of books on social skills like conversation skills , charisma but I don’t implement any of it , I am just too scared I know how to get better at it but maybe what I need is to just show up regularly forget all the knowledge in the books , just brute force it with volume . It even applies to this blog I am going to just brute force it for 30 days and see what happens its going to be shitty stuff at times because I just want to crank out as much volume as possible
